  Rolf

Rolf Harrison
Rolf began playing tennis in Hong Kong at the age of 8 and his interest in the game led him to enter Under 12 tennis events shortly thereafter. His tournament results earned him an invitation to join the Hong Kong National Junior Team at the age of 12. Rolf progressed through the ranks to win numerous Hong Kong national titles and, in 1985, he won the Asian Junior Doubles Championships, was a semi-finalist in the Wimbledon Junior Doubles and won ITF doubles events in Taipei, Manila and Pattaya - finishing with a year-end ITF junior world ranking of #15 in doubles and #96 in singles.

Rolf went on to play Division I tennis at Princeton University in the United States where the team was Ivy League Champion ('88) and he was Team Captain ('89). After earning a BA degree in Economics, he returned to Hong Kong where he played Satellite and Challenger events as well as the Davis Cup.

Upon leaving the tennis circuit, Rolf worked for several years at a Hong Kong firm, Ryoden Sports, marketing tennis and golf products. In 1993, he earned a MBA degree from City University Business School, London. Returning to Hong Kong after completing his degree, he established a new sports services division at Ryoden Sports. The International Management Group (IMG) recruited Rolf for their Singapore office in mid-1995. IMG is widely recognized as the world's most successful sports management company and Rolf worked initially as Manager, Business Development and for his last three years as Director of Marketing for the club management division. In January 1999, he left IMG to establish Savitar Pte. Ltd.

Frank

Frank Bruinsma
Frank Bruinsma has gained extensive tennis playing and coaching experience in Australia, the United States and Singapore. An Australian and Dutch citizen, Frank spent many of his developing years in Singapore later returning in 1993. Having worked closely with and for the most prestigious clubs in Singapore over the last 14yrs, such as the Hollandse Club, Swiss Club, Pines, Amrita Spa Tennis and Tanglin Club among others, Frank has developed a vast understanding of club and client expectations.

Frank has an excellent ability to interact with members and students of all nationalities, developing a good rapport and a loyal client base. He has developed strong junior programs and adult clinics in a club setting and also significantly enhanced overall club facility usage. Frank has professional tennis certifications from the PTR, TCA , SLTA and ITF (Level II). He has also attended numerous international tennis workshops and has presented several topics at regional coaching workshops in Malaysia and China conducted by the International Tennis Federation.

Frank currently overseas the entire operation of Savitar Pte Ltd as its Managing Director.

In 1998, Frank was recruited as Head Program Coach for the Singapore Lawn Tennis Association's SPEX 2000 development scheme. Frank joined Savitar in November 1, 1999 as Director of Tennis, Club and Resort Operations and now as Managing Director currently oversees all of company's coaching activities.

  Kan

Kan Tsi Kwong
Kan Tsi Kwong has been involved with the game of tennis for the past twenty years. Initially, he represented the Anglo-Chinese School in Malacca, Malaysia and traveled throughout the country playing in junior competitions. His coaching career began in 1989 when he was recruited to teach in the Singapore Sports Council / Robertson Wilson Junior Tennis Training Scheme. He earned his Tennis Instructor's Certificate through the Singapore Sports Council and SLTA program in 1989 and also has a PTR "Professional" rating.

Kan is an experienced Tennis Coach and, having joined the Savitar Team of Professionals in February 2000, looks forward to developing the skills of tennis players of all levels.

Sharin

 

Sharin Jamal
Sharin Jamal is Head Professional at the Hollandse Club and the Director of Tennis at The Pines. A strong player himself, Sharin has represented Singapore at international tennis events in both the junior and open categories. He has tennis coaching certifications from the Singapore Sports Council as well as the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR). With eight years of tennis teaching experience, Sharin has held key tennis professional positions at the American Club, Shangri-La Hotel and Pinetree Club. He looks forward to delivering a high level of tennis instruction and service to members of all ages and playing abilities.

Amit Baghel
Amit has joined Savitar as off March 2006. Amit is a qualified tennis professional with over 6 years of coaching experience, holding internationally recognized certifications including ITF level 1 & 2 and USPTR. He also holds a certification in Yoga & Sports Injuries. He has associated with all India Tennis Association, a former Coach for Davis Cup and Peninsula Tennis Academy - the biggest tennis academy in India. Amit has just finished his MBA from Management Development Institute of Singapore-University of Wales, Singapore.With his academic background, Amit is a great asset  both on and off the court, assisting with the administrative and marketing aspects of Savitar Pte Ltd as well as coaching.

Taib Ali
Taib has joined Savitar as off February 2006. Taib has been in the tennis teaching industry for more than 20 years, having spent 16 years as a full-time professional at The American Club and has successfully managed various programs with other established clubs. He served as Assistant Tournament Director of the Compaq Grand Prix Challenge, Queens of Tennis Exhibition Match and a former teaching professional with Club Med (Phuket, Bali, Cherating). He is well recognized in managing and developing junior tennis players and a seasoned professional well versed with teaching techniques.

Adrian Ng
Adrian has been a prominent tennis coach on the local coaching scene for the last 15yrs.  Adrian has spend most of his coaching career at both the Westin Stanford Hotel and the Swiss Club, having developed a very strong clientele base. He is well qualified as a PTR Professional and is exceptionally strong with coaching and motivating junior players, as well as adult private lessons and adult group lessons.

Paul Ambrose
Having grown up in Christchurch, New Zealand, Paul was among the top juniors in the country. He represented NZ at both a Province and Country level throughout age groups at international events around the world.

After a season of Club tennis for Wangen in the South of Germany, Paul accepted a Tennis Scholarship to the University of North Carolina, Asheville. He graduated four years later with a Degree in Psychology. During this time Paul spent two summers instructing juniors in New York at Future Stars day camps. The final two years were spent as the Assistant Professional at the Biltmore Forest Country Club. After that Paul coached for one year at one of Canada’s top tennis resorts, The Inn at Manitou.

Paul is well qualified with the New Zealand professional coaching certification.

Aslam Jaffar
Aslam has an extensive playing history in Singapore and Malaysia since a very early age. He has competed at a national level in Singapore as a junior. He obtained his USPTR in 2000, then an officiating certificate in 2006. In 2007 he also completed the national association certification.

Aslam started his coaching career path soon after leaving NS, starting with teaching privates and juniors at different condos and then working closely with Raymond Ng at the Orchid Country Club. At this time he also coached Part-time with Savitar. As off Oct 07 Aslam has joined Savitar on a full-time basis as the right hand man to Raymond Ng at the Willow Stream Spa tennis facility at the Swissotel. Aslam also supports at the Hollandse Club and Swiss Club.

Adam Branks
Originally from New Zealand, Adam Branks has a great background so far in both playing and coaching. Tennis coaching has run in his family for years, with his father running a large tennis school in Auckland where Adam has trained and coached from an early age. Adam moved to the USA in 2001 and studied psychology at University of North Carolina, Asheville. During this time he played a very high level of competitive tennis at a Division I level. Adam has coached in the States and New Zealand and has now joined the Savitar team here in Singapore.

Rafael Zubek
Originally from Poland, Rafael played for the Sports Institute in Wroclaw, Poland and was a member of National Polish Junior Tennis Squad. He has since spent many years abroad coaching, including USA, UK, Australia and recently Hong Kong. With a PTR professional certification and an ATPCA level 2, Rafael is a great asset to the Savitar Team.

Brent Alford
Brent is a fully qualified level 2 Advanced coach with 12 years of coaching experience in clubs and resorts in various parts of the world. During his early playing days Brent was ranked within the top 20 juniors of Australia. He has spent the last 6 years working as Director of Tennis at Seaview Country Club in New York, USA, as well as the Laguna Beach Resort in Phuket, Thailand. More recently Brent was working with Tennis Australia coaching at the Australian Open Tennis Academy in Melbourne, Australia. Brent has played a major part in the organizational team of the Australian Open in 2008 and 2009.

Niki Tippins
Niki is a former professional tennis player. She represented New Zealand at junior and open level and was a member of the New Zealand Fed Cup team from 1998 – 2000 inclusive.

She is a Tennis NZ certified coach. Has a Bachelor of Heath Science majoring in Occupational Therapy and a Diploma of Sports Studies.

Niki was contracted to NZ tennis during 2004 – 2008 as a selector and coach. Throughout these years Niki took New Zealand Junior Teams to ITF Junior events, Junior Fed Cup and tours to Australia, Asia and Europe. She has also been a travelling coach for NZ’s top women players, and manager of the NZ Fed Cup team.

Before coming to Singapore Niki had her own successful coaching business in NZ including residency at the main commercial tennis centre, running a successful club, director of tennis at a private girls school and also ran a multisport holiday programme business. Niki Tippins joins Savitar as Projects Director.

David Dickson
Davids tennis coaching career began at Tony Roche’s Racquet Resort, and has expanded to include many highly acclaimed tennis academies, resorts and sports centres throughout Australia. He is a Tennis Australia Club Professional Coach, a Tennis Coaches Australia Advanced Coach, an Australian Strength & Conditioning Association Strength and Conditioning Coach. David aslo holds a Bachelor of Science Architecture Degree,  and Australian Sports Commission Multi Sport  PD/H/PE qualification and Cricket Coaches Australia Cricket Coaching Qualifications.

David recently returned from 2 years as the Director of Tennis and Fitness Centre Manager on Hayman Island Resort – a 5 star Leading Hotel of the World in the Great Barrier Reef Australia. He has been a Tennis NSW Elite Junior Talent Development Centre Coach, and has implemented Tennis, Physical Education, Gross Motor Skill, and Biomechanics programs at Sydney Olympic Park. He has a background as an elite Australian Distance middle distance runner and can be of assistance with both your Tennis and Fitness needs.

Jamal

 

Jamal Yadi
Jamal brings vast experience to the team having been involved in the sport of tennis for over 40 years. He has taught full-time for the past 25 years and has been actively involved in the Singapore Lawn Tennis Association's Sports Excellence (SPEX) as a program coordinator and coach. His previous teaching assignments also included being the resident pro at the prestigious Shangri-La Hotel. Jamal has a Singapore Sports Council Tennis Instructor's certification and is a member of the Singapore Registry of Coaches (ROC).
